The buffet food isn’t the best, and there aren’t a ton of options, but the hotel tries to keep things interesting by serving themed menus each night for dinner. This venue can sometimes feel like a busy cafeteria - where everyone arrives at once and plows through the buffet with gusto. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has both indoor and outdoor seating. There are only three restaurants on-site, so variety can feel stale after a few days. Samba Vallarta’s all-inclusive dining is mediocre at best. Suites also have tiny kitchenettes, with mini-fridges (also holding a handful of drinks), microwaves, and coffeemakers. Suites are much larger than standard rooms, and are equipped with separate bedroom and living areas, along with large outdoor balconies. The hotel has several interconnecting standard rooms, for families or groups traveling together. Standard rooms are typical studio-style rooms with one king or two double beds. There are two room types at Samba Vallarta - standard rooms and suites. Some of Samba’s rooms, and all of its suites, have outdoor balconies that overlook the pool and beach. Samba provides soap, shampoo, and lotion, along with other thoughtful amenities like sewing kits, shower caps, and tiny first-aid sets. The tile is in desperate need of new grout and fixtures, like chained drain plugs, give off a motel vibe. Only suites have coffeemakers and microwaves. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, lightly stocked minibars with a few free soft drinks, electronic safes, and ironing equipment. Beds are backed by faux leather headboards and are dressed in white sheets and aqua bed skirts and runners - which add a little pep, but not enough. Plus, popcorn ceilings and gold-flecked tile floors show signs of age. Pale yellow walls and blonde wood furniture create a monochrome palette that leaves a lot to be desired. My wife loves to dance and is latin, so that was disappointing.Samba Vallarta's rooms are clean and spacious, but like the hotel’s common spaces, they lack style. I believe they turned the Mexican restaurant into a disco 2-nights dring our stay, but was very late so we did not go. We did not got to DT PV so I can't comment on that. They have 2-computers and internet access available for a fee. The rooms on the back side don't have much of a view. I would recommend a room facing the pool. It is a kid friendly place with a kids club and also a play area. Each night at 7:00, hundreds of bats exit the eve of the resort. There are time share people on the beach that will approach you. The time share staff at the hotel doesn't bother you much. I spoke with 2-different couples (retired) who return year after year and love the place, but also mentioned the large group affected their stay. I understand ownership changed hands 3 times in the past 4 years. It is a smaller and more intimate resort then most I saw. I complaned on my departure and was given 2-nights free. The large group tended to take over the resort. I believe this affected the quality of our stay. Our stay there happened to coincide with an extremely large group. They are entertaining, but of course not Broadway material. The Mexican restaurant has a good view of the beach. The waiters and the bartenders are exceptional with the exception of the waiters in the buffet restaurant who seemed to be understaffed. The beach vendors are contained in a small area on the beach. There is an oversized chess board and shuffle board as well. They have a volleyball net on the beach and at the pool and are set up for water polo. They will be more inclined to involve you in activities. The have an entertainment staff that is active during the day. The resort is clean and the staff is friendly. They provide boogie boards and sea kayaks free of charge. Mostly older couples with no kids, couples also no kids and families. There were a mixture of guests with limited singles. They serve 2-brands of beer and whatever liquor or mixed drink you would like. The food is average for an all-inclusive. The resort is in the process of up-dating. The balconies are small but have a nice view.
